5 Tips to Stay Healthy During the Outbreak

To stay healthy and help the government to curb the spread of coronavirus, there are several ways that need to be done by each person. Let’s work on this together so we can buy the time and stop the spread! Read 5 tips below to keep yourself healthy and fit during this pandemic situation.

1. Always Wear Your Mask Everywhere

Since day one of the outbreak, wearing a mask is important during this situation. It’s advisable to use double face masks for more protection. You can use one medical mask and one cloth mask.

One of the symptoms of people infected by coronavirus is cough. Therefore, if you see someone coughing, you can be more aware and tell them to wear a mask just in case. Having self-awareness is important during this time.

This is because the person-to-person transmission is through droplets, when you sneeze or cough. So if you don’t wear a mask in public when you feel sick, your droplets will be easier to expose to other people. Remember, masks are not much needed for those who are healthy.

2. Wash Your Hands Regularly and Frequently

This new virus can exist anywhere. It can be found on the cellphone you always hold, the clothes you wear, or the money you carry. Thus, it’s really important to keep yourself hygiene by washing your hands regularly after doing outdoor activities.

WHO also recommends washing your hands frequently and properly in running water with soap, to kill all the bacterias and viruses in your hands. Don’t also forget to always take a bath once you get home and wash your clothes immediately.

Do it as often as possible, especially after you hold something, after using the toilet, shaking hands with people, or anything in contact with you. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with the correct technique.

3. Take Vitamins, Eat Healthy Food, and Exercise

Boost your immune system with vitamin C, vitamin D, and zinc. This helps you to decrease the risk of catching the flu because your immune will attack the virus anytime needed. Make sure to consume healthy foods like eating more vegetables and fruits aside from taking vitamins.

Additionally, exercising regularly is also a powerful way to fortify yourself from coronavirus transmission. In fact, you don’t have to go to the gym. Simply do some light exercises at home like yoga or 7 minutes workout that you can find easily on the internet.

4. Maintain social distancing and stay at home

In accordance with government policy, Indonesia has implemented social distancing to slow the spread of coronavirus. This movement has also been applied in almost all countries affected by the virus and has proven effective in reducing the number of infected people.

During this social distancing period, you’re also expected to do self-quarantine or during the incubation period of the virus. If you have to go out, avoid crowds and maintain around 1-meter distance with other people.

With this social distancing, it certainly can minimize the possibility of virus transmission. If you’re not the sufferer, then you could be the “carrier” of coronavirus and will be dangerous for immunocompromised people around you.

5. Carry Your Health Kit At All Times

Last but not least, always remember to bring your personal health kit wherever you go, such as masks and alcohol-based hand rub or hand sanitizer. It’s now an essential item that you must carry wherever you go, especially if you need to commute with public transportation on your way home or to the office.

Since it probably won’t be possible for anyone to wash their hands with soap and water anywhere, using a hand-sanitizer regularly protects yourself from the virus during your activities outside.

Stay Calm and Follow the Tips to Stay Healthy!

The situation might seem terrifying for some people, but you don’t have to overly worry about your health if you follow those 5 tips above. Make sure to tell your family and friends about this too so they can stay fit and maintain personal hygiene all the time.

If you still have to go outside for the time being, you can also check out the guide on the do’s and don’ts of social distancing. Let’s do our best effort to keep ourselves and other people safe and healthy. Stay safe, t-mates!
