As the UK has already separated from the European Union (EU), the country has issued its own visa and no longer welcomes the use of Schengen visa. Now, international tourists who wish to enter the country must pocket a UK visa.

Documents Required to Apply for a UK Visa

1. Mandatory Files

Some mandatory documents you must have to apply for a USA visa are as follow:

• Passport

In order to fly and be eligible for the UK visa, you are required to have a passport with at least 6 months validity period. You will also need to attach your old passport if you have one. But, if your old passport is missing, you must make a signed statement letter addressing the reasons.

You will also need to take two colored photos in size of 3.5 x 4.5 with white background. For your photos to be approved by the embassy, it needs to have high resolution and show your face clearly (ears must be visible).

• Photocopy of Identity Card (KTP) and Family Card (Kartu Keluarga)

International tourists hoping to enter the UK must also attach a photocopy of their identity card or Kartu Tanda Penduduk (KTP) and their family card or Kartu Keluarga (KK). If you’re not from an English-speaking country, you must convert your documents to the English language first.

• Financial Proof

For the embassy to be able to issue a visa for you, you must have proof of your financial state so that they’re convinced that you have sufficient funds to cover your living expenses there. 

Therefore, you will need to attach your checking account statement for at least the last 3 months before your departure. If you already have a job and a steady income, you may have to include a copy of your income statement too.

• Proof of Accommodation & Flight Tickets

In addition to financial proof, you also need to include evidence of accommodation during your stay in the UK and your round-trip flight tickets. This is necessary to ensure that the UK embassy can be more confirm about your travel plans while you’re in the UK.

• Reference Letter from Bank

To complete the UK visa application requirements, applicants are also expected to attach a reference letter from the bank which is printed in English. 

2. Supporting files

The five files above are mandatory requirements that must be submitted by visa applicants. Now, there are also other supporting files needed. Here are all of them:

• Additional Letter of Assignment

If you are applying for a regular visitor visa then you can skip this part. For those of you who are applying for the other visas, you might need to attach a bit more documents supporting your intention.

For a work visa or business trip, you must attach the work invitation letter while for a student visa this letter is replaced with a letter of acceptance from the university. 

• Travel Itinerary

Lastly, you will need to attach a copy of your travel itinerary that includes your accommodation information. This is required in order to ensure that you have a place to stay during your trip to the UK.

Steps to Get the UK Visa

After all the documents are prepared, the visa applicant is required to go through several stages of processing. The steps are as follows, t-mates!

1. Register for an Account on the Official Website

The first step is to visit the official Visa4UK website and register for an account. You will need to fill in some personal information like your contact and address details. After you’re finished and submit the information, there will be an account verification sent to your e-mail.

2. Fill Out the Application Form

After you have been verified, it’s now time to fill out the visa application form. Overall, the form will be divided into two. The first part is when you submit all of the required documents we mentioned earlier and the second part is an additional column to convince the embassy to accept the application for a UK visa. 

3. Digitally Signed Your Forms and Documents

Before you sign your application form, make sure all the information written is correct and the required documents are completed. If there is a lack of documents, you must explain the reasons why the documents aren’t included.

4. Make an Interview Appointment
