Day 1 – Edinburgh

A warm welcome to Scotland, t-mates! Start your day in Scotland by visiting Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland. Edinburgh is a special city with lots of historical buildings and incredible vistas. Those medieval castles and winding cobblestone streets will remind you of those scenes in the Harry Potter movies!

One attraction that you shouldn’t miss is the Edinburgh Castle, which sits on top of Castle Hill. This castle dates back to the 11th century. Nowadays, it has become a large museum that is open to the public.

Then, you should also visit Victoria Street in the Old Town, one of the most Instagrammable places in the city. Strike a pose in front of the colorful shop fronts – it’s so pretty!

Just FYI, Edinburgh is the world’s leading festival city. There are 12 annual festivals throughout the year but most of them are in August. You can consider attending some of the best festivals there as well such as the Edinburgh International Book Festival and Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Cairngorms National Park has a lot to boast when it comes to nature. It is home to wonderful wildlife from black grouse, golden eagle, reindeer, you name it! It’s a delightful experience to meet those incredible creatures and get up close with them!

You can join a tour to explore the beautiful forests, visit castles and distilleries, or just enjoy the panoramic view around the park. In the mood for whitewater kayaking? You can also enjoy this activities as there are some watersport centres there where you can hire kayaks and canoes, among others.

Day 3 – Inverness & Loch Ness

Both Inverness and Loch Ness are close to each other, so you can go to both destinations in a day. Obviously, the things to do in Inverness include seeing all the city highlights using a sightseeing bus tour. You can also see Inverness castle, discover great museums, and shopping experiences.

From Inverness, you can head to Loch Ness. Loch Ness is famous for its tale of a large creature called Nessie hiding underwater. Curious, huh? Well, you can discover Loch Ness by sailing the waves on a boat tour. Have some fun searching for Nessie while enjoying the wonderful scenery there.

Fort William is a place where you can enjoy lots of exciting outdoor activities, from hillwalking, mountain climbing to water sports. Some of the top attractions at Fort William are Ben Nevis mountains, Steall Waterfall, Jacobite Steam Train and Old Inverlochy Castle.

Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture those beautiful deep glacial valleys and unique historical buildings. If you’re into history, you can visit the West Highlands Museum which houses an excellent local history collection.

Some activities you can do there are to explore the national park’s by foot. There are plenty of short walks, nature trails, and hills. You can also hop over to Inchconnachan to see wallabies roaming freely on the beautiful island.
