Green Tourism Village: Komodo Village in Labuan Bajo

Desa Komodo Labuan Bajo

Komodo Village is included in one of the Green Tourism Village by the Ministry of Tourism and Economy Creative of the Republic of Indonesia. Green Tourism Village applies the concept of nature, economy, and socio-cultural sustainability and preservation. This means that the various tours offered do not damage the environment and will improve the welfare of the local community.

Here, you can get to know more about the culture, traditions, and activities of the locals. So not only you’ll see nature and beach tourism, but also learn something new — culturally, by visiting Komodo Village.

Furthermore, this village also still maintains its local wisdom. No wonder many foreign tourists come to visit this village to witness the people living side by side with Komodo dragons. Excited to come and experience it yourself?

The uniqueness doesn’t stop there, because you’ll find more interesting things to see, such as goats roaming in residential areas. These goats are deliberately used as food for the Komodo dragons who come to the settlement so that they won’t eat humans.

However, the electricity in this village is still very limited. It’ll only turn on at 05.00 PM – 06.00 AM Central Indonesia Time, and the rest of the day will be a blackout. Even so, it doesn’t reduce the feasibility of Komodo Village to be in your itinerary when you go to Labuan Bajo.

2 Fun Ways to Explore Komodo National Park

1) The first way is probably the most suitable one for those of you who have limited time exploring Komodo National Park. You can rent a speedboat for 1,300,000 IDR per pax*. The journey will start from dawn until evening. At least five to six destinations can be visited by speedboat.

2) The second way is by enjoying Live On Board, where you’ll stay at a phinisi boat and do island hopping from one to another. If you’re feeling adventurous, you should try this one. Don’t worry, rooms inside the boat are comfortable and lunch & dinner will also be provided during the trip.

You can sail for either 2 days 1 night or 4 days 3 nights with phinisi boat, so it’s all your call how long your journey will be. The cost for this trip is starting from 2,500,000 IDR per pax for an open trip* up to 35,000,000/night/pax* for a private trip depends on the boat type and offered services.
