“If I say no this time, they won’t invite me again.”
“If I don’t check my phone today, I’ll miss an important message.”
“If I don’t get this latest gadget, my friends will make fun of me.”
FOMO is real! It’s everywhere in our daily lives, whether we are studying, working, or owning a business. It is happening because people tend to compare themselves to others, which is a natural human tendency.
With the existence of social media, people are becoming more connected. We will somehow feel left out if we weren’t invited to a party. We’ll also think that we’ll miss an amazing opportunity if we weren’t able to spend our time with friends on a holiday.

Knowing that fact, should we get over the fear of missing out and normalize saying “No” to invitations? Some people believe that FOMO can trigger anxiety and make people feel depressed. Is that true?
Nonetheless, some people view FOMO as a motivation for them to get out there and experience something new. When our friends are planning for a holiday, we will be motivated to save money so we can enjoy the time together with them.

Who knows that the event that we attend will open doors for more opportunities for our career? Probably those parties that we accidentally attend allow us to meet someone special?
What do you think about FOMO, t-mates? Have you ever experienced fear of missing out before? How do you deal with it?
