1. Get to Know More About Sasak Tribe at Sade Village

The Sasak people are the local inhabitants of Lombok Island. If you want to know more about them and their local cultures, just come to Sade Village that is located in Rambitan, Central Lombok. To reach this village, you only need to take a 20-minute car ride from Lombok International Airport.

When you arrive, you will be warmly welcomed by the local people who are more than happy to explain more about the traditional culture. Here, you can see many Bale Tani, the traditional house of Sasak Tribe made of dry sedge grass and bamboo weave.

Furthermore, at some occasions you’ll be able to see their local traditions, such as the unique marriage ceremony. It’s spectacular! Before you leave this village, you also can take a look at the traditional handicrafts and see if you want to buy some and bring back home.

2. Explore Sukarara Village, the Weaving Village

Here is another traditional village to visit when you’re in Lombok. Just like in Sade Village, here you’ll also get to see the Sasak traditional houses and meet the local Sasak people. Other than that, Sukarara Village is known as the weaving village.

The weaving tradition in this village has been passed from generation to generation, so it has become an everyday routine for the Sasak women. Do you want to learn how to weave with the traditional machine? Don’t be shy to ask them to show you how, t-mates!

Wanna see a very unique festival in Lombok? Then you have to see the Bau Nyale Festival, an annual traditional festival devoted to capturing colorful sea worms. The interesting part is that the sea worms are believed to be the incarnation of Princess Mandalika who jumped into the sea.

The Bau Nyale Festival is usually held in February at Seger Beach or Tanjung Aan Beach for a week. During the festival, you’ll see many local people become the participants. Do you also wanna try to catch the sea worms, t-mates?

4. Learn How to Make Pottery at Banyumulek Village
