10 Languages to Say Happy Birthday to Your Friends

This time, tiket.com has curated some birthday wishes in various languages ​​in the world that you can say to your friends. There are 10 different national languages from 10 different countries that you can learn and memorize. We bet you already know some of them so don’t be shy to speak it out!

1. Bahasa Indonesia – Selamat Ulang Tahun

Bahasa Indonesia is the national language of Indonesia. Although Indonesia comprises thousands of islands, Bahasa Indonesia is being used almost in all parts of Indonesia because everyone can understand it. You can say this to your friends or maybe your favorite idols! Leave a comment or direct message on their Instagram account to send a birthday greeting. If you wanna do it in Hangul, you can write “생일 축하합니다!”

4. Thai – S̄uk̄hs̄ạnt̒ Wạn Keid

If you don’t have any favorite Korean idol, then how about Thai actors or actresses? With a unique language and accent, you can go with “S̄uk̄hs̄ạnt̒ Wạn Keid” to say happy birthday in the Thai language.

It’s probably a bit hard to read it but with constant practice, you can do it!

5. Indian – Janmadin Mubaarak

Are you a fan of Bollywood movies? If yes, then you should learn to speak Indian even just a little. Happy birthday in Indian is “Janmadin Mubaarak”, not quite hard to say, right?

You can say this to your Indian friends or simply to your family or local friends as an alternative and fun way to wish them a happy birthday!

6. French – Bon Anniversaire

People say that the French language is romantic and sexy, so why don’t you say happy birthday in French? Say “Bon Anniversaire” as a birthday greeting and don’t forget to try to pronounce it in a local way!

7. Japanese – Otanjoubi Omedetou Gozaimasu

9. Chinese – Shēngrì Kuàilè 

In Indonesia, Mandarin or the Chinese language is also well known among Indonesians. In fact, many Indonesian people can speak a little bit of Mandarin. Do you know that Mandarin is actually considered one of the hardest languages in the world?

The difference may be in the letter “ñ” which is very different from the “n” in the English alphabet. The pronunciation sounds like “eh-nyeh”. Hmmm, quite challenging to learn, right? But well, saying a birthday greeting is not too difficult — you can say “Feliz Cumpleaños” then practice it with your friends!
