Slow Down and Enjoy Your Time in Finland

Just chill and relax, because your journey will take a long time if you’re traveling from Asia. But don’t worry, because your trip will be worth it and you’ll come home with lots of memories and experiences.

Here’s the 5D4N itinerary in Finland for you. Hopefully, after reading this, you’ll get some ideas of where to go, t-mates!

Day 1

So, if you’re coming from Indonesia, after a 17 hours flight, you have finally arrived at the happiest country in the world: Finland. Well, since you must be tired on the first day, you can take a rest in the hotel in Helsinki’s city center for a while.

When you feel energized, then you can start exploring tourist destinations. You can take a boat at the pier to visit Suomenlinna Island which is only 15 minutes from the city center.

After exploring the island and having lunch, you can return to Helsinki by using public transportation or rent a car to the Sibelius Monument to capture your moments with the beautiful works of a Finnish sculptor, Eila Hiltunen.

End your day by enjoying the afternoon in the Senate Square area and trying some Finnish specialties such as Karjalanpiirakat (a type of Finnish pie).

Additionally, you can also visit the University of Helsinki and the cathedral there before returning to the hotel to rest.

Day 2

On the second day, you can still spend your time around Helsinki. Together with your family, you can visit interesting tourist destinations. Temppeliaukio Church can be your first photo spot. Then, continue your trip by visiting Sea Life Helsinki. It only takes less than half an hour to get there from the church.

Next, take your family to Moomin World. The surroundings of Moomin World are also no less beautiful than other destinations in Finland. So, while accompanying your little ones to play with their world, you and the rest of your family can feel refreshed!

When it gets dark, it’s time for you to find a restaurant in Helsinki to fill your stomach and then rest at the hotel.

Day 3

On the third day, you will spend about 3 hours journey by land. Don’t worry, your efforts will pay off once you reach the destination.

Enjoying the beauty of the Old Town of Savonlinna is a mandatory thing you do when on vacation to Finland. This old city is indeed very attractive to many tourists. And the good thing is, it is still well maintained.

The activity that you can do, of course, is to go around seeing many ancient buildings made of wood that look dashing.

An iconic spot that you shouldn’t forget is Olavinlinna Castle. Uniquely, this building is surrounded by a wide and calm lake. Just relax near the lake while chatting with family. The cool air and quiet surroundings will certainly make your mind calm and relaxed instantly.

After returning from the old town, stop by the shopping center to buy some souvenirs since this is your last day in Helsinki. After that, your next stop is Rovaniemi.

Day 4

Your vacation in Rovaniemi starts with staying at an Igloo. Relax and see the beautiful aurora right above the sky in your room. This accommodation has a glass roof where you can see beautiful views on top of you clearly.

Activities that you can do on this fourth day are visiting Santa Claus Village and playing lots of snow games. Of course, not only children will feel at home, but you will also be happy!

It’s time for lunch, let’s eat! The concept of the restaurant is like an Igloo where all the furniture is made of ice with a very cold temperature.

Try tasting the special food there. The venison menu cooked with various recipes will also be an interesting experience for you to try.

Your vacation is not over just yet! There is still a tour to find the aurora in Lapland. Hopefully, luck is on your side, t-mates, so you can see the magnificent aurora.

Day 5

The last day in Finland has finally arrived. There are still fun activities you can do. While still in Rovaniemi, you must visit Levi Ski Resort. Over there, you can learn to ski with complete equipment that you can rent, t-mates. The expanse of snow mountains with up and down landscapes will welcome you warmly.

Don’t forget to capture all your experiences in Finland, t-mates. If necessary, record your ski learning activities with your family and loved ones.

After you are satisfied with skiing and slides and even throwing snowballs, you can return to the hotel to prepare to check out. Oh wait…before that, trying out the sauna inside the hotel will be a great idea to relax your tense muscles before traveling back to your hometown!
