5. Study the Life of the Great Tjong A Fie at Tjong A Fie Mansion Museum

A historic building with high and strong walls painted in faded yellow with Chinese ornaments can be seen in the heart of Medan. This is the Tjong A Fie Mansion, the home of Majoor der Chinezen or the first Mayor for the Chinese community in Medan.

On the Chinese New Year, Tjong A Fie’s family normally holds a little event by serving a variety of Indonesian cuisine and traditional music.
This residence was made into a museum after Tjong A Fie left, including a space of devotion in the center. This, however, should not be visited by the general public or photographed since the family considers it sacred.

6. Have a Fun Chinese New Year Celebration by Taking the Semarang City Tour
