Brace yourself, t-mates! You’re getting closer to the charming Samosir Island. At this point, you’re crossing Lake Toba by a ferry. Your drop-off point is Tomok Harbor, which takes less than an hour to reach.

The effective option to explore Samosir once you arrive is to rent a motorbike in Tomok and return it when you head back to Parapat the next day.

5. Explore Samosir Island
At this point, the day isn’t dark yet, t-mates! Well, that means you have a chance to enjoy the beautiful island of Samosir on your own. Yup, the roads on Samosir Island are pretty easy to figure out. So, exploring the Island by yourself is a doable choice.

To enjoy the magnificent Lake Toba from a good angle, visit Peninsula Tuk Tuk which is about 45 minutes away from your homestay. Truly, the sunset view must be out of this world!
Another thing you shouldn’t miss is the sight of Batak Toba Traditional House. You may find them in the middle of your journey in Ambarita. Feel free to spend some time and take pictures when you see them!

Day 3
1. A Trip to Tomok Tourism Village
Since this is your last day, you will be checking out from Bagus Bay Homestay. After 18 minutes on the road, you will have arrived at the Tomok Tourism Village. This tourism village truly is a great way to learn about life in Samosir. Here, you can find the Kampung Batak area with its traditional houses, Sigale-gale statues, and ancient burials of the ancient kings of Batak.
If you’re lucky, you’ll get a chance to see a Tor Tor dance performance as a welcoming dance. Everywhere you look, you’ll feel the traditional and cultural vibe that is not only easy on the eyes but also knowledge enriching!

While you’re here, it’s mandatory to visit Batak Museum Tomok. The historical aspect of this museum is not only seen from the outside, but also from its collection of antique goods. One of the attention-stealing ornaments in the Batak museum is the white lizard-shaped ornament attached to the wall. According to the locals, lizards represent protection and the ability to fit in.

2. Shopping at Tomok Market
Whether you want to buy souvenirs or simply window shop, Tomok Market is a great destination to visit. Here, you can find many souvenirs and mostly they are fabrics and clothing. Other than a shopping place, Tomok Market is also a relaxing space as it is situated by the landscape of mountains.

3. Time for a Ferry Ride to Ajibata

So this is it, you’re ending your journey from Medan to Samosir Island. At this point, you shall be returning your rented motorbike and head to the harbor to wait for your ferry to Ajibata Harbor.
4. Ride the Bus to Silangit Airport
From Ajibata Harbor, take the DAMRI bus with Silangit Airport route. This one will take almost 2 hours, t-mates. Better be prepared to fill that time with something you’ll enjoy!
