It is located in Ngaran Village, Magelang, and only 5 minutes away from the temple. So close, right?

The atmosphere of this village is really calm and peaceful. Here, you will find several traditional Joglo houses made of woods, some of them can be booked for events. Other than that, there is also Waroeng Kopi Borobudur, a coffee shop that has been opened since 2016. 

You definitely should come to this coffee shop and try Borobudur Coffee. It is a special coffee made from the robusta beans planted in the Menoreh Mountains. Take a sip and you will be craving for more! Fortunately, you can buy this coffee to bring back home either for yourself or as souvenirs.

Explore Karangrejo Village, A Sustainable Tourism Village

Did you know that in March 2021, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy announced that there were 16 tourism villages in Indonesia that have been certified as sustainable tourism villages? 

This special certification is given to tourism villages that apply the CHSE concept, which are Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environment Sustainability. Besides that, well-built infrastructure and facilities are also available in these villages, such as a homestay and a souvenir shop.

One of the sustainable tourism villages which is located around Borobudur is Karangrejo Village. This village is widely known as an organic village as the locals are always enthusiastic about promoting organic farming. Another special thing that you can see at Karangrejo Village is the beautiful sunrise. To enjoy the best sunrise view, you can watch it from a spot named Punthuk Setumbu, which is situated 400 meters above sea level.

Immerse Yourself in the Beauty of Wanurejo Tourism Village

Wanurejo Tourism Village is only a 6-8 minutes drive from Borobudur Temple. If you are interested, you can also rent a bike at Jl. Balaputradewa and cycle all the way to the village. 

Along the way, you can enjoy the natural view of green rice fields on your sides. Then when you arrive, you will be greeted by a unique traditional entrance gate. Don’t forget to stop for a while and take a picture here, t-mates!

Just like the other villages, Wanurejo Tourism Village is also being developed as a Balkondes to support the local economy. Here, you can enjoy some light meals in the restaurant while immersing yourself in the beauty of the natural environment. So calming!
