1. Borobudur Temple

2. Prambanan Temple

Have you ever heard of the legend of Roro Jonggrang? It is popular folklore about Prambanan Temple, one of the famous tourist attractions in Jogja. The temple was built by Bandung Bondowoso with the help of demons in order to show his love for Roro Jonggrang.

3. Taman Sari 

Taman Sari is a site that has existed since the 18th century. The place was built under the reign of Sultan Hamengkubuwono I, the first sultan of Yogyakarta, and was completed by the time of Sultan Hamengkubuwono II.

There are many areas inside the building which include bathing pools, water canals, suspension bridges, and underground passageways.

4. Yogyakarta Palace

5. Kauman Great Mosque

Vredeburg Fort was built in 1765 by the Dutch government which functioned as a form of defense from the attack. At present, this place is one of the historical sites in Yogyakarta.

7.  Museum Monumen Yogya Kembali

This building compound was founded to commemorate the return of Yogyakarta City to the Republic from the authority of the Dutch Colonial Government in the middle of 1949. The idea of the museum foundation came from Yogyakarta City mayor, Colonel Soegiarto, in 1985.

Museum Monumen Yogya Kembali has a shape that is quite unique, which resembles a pyramid. The shape signifies the preservation of history from the ancestors. 

This museum contains dioramas, displays of relics, artifacts, photographs, and other memorabilia of historical events pertaining to Indonesia’s Independence from the Dutch.
